The synthetic cast bandage is individually packed and consists of a fibreglass fabric which has been impregnated with a mixture of polyurethane resin. If the bandage is immerged in water and pressed firmly several times, the material of the applied bandage will harden very quickly. This results in a rigid cast bandage with an enormously high stability and low weight. The material is used for treatment of bone fractures of various origins or for treatment of inflammatory processes at the joints and ligaments. The good X-ray transparency necessitates fewer bandage changes when controlling the healing process.
